Margaret2 Knight (Thomas1) was born June 22, 1871 in Kilnalappa, Dunmore, Galway. Ireland, and died in Baltimore, Maryland.She married John Kennedy in Baltimore, Maryland.He was born 1866 in Ireland, and died in Baltimore, Maryland.

Notes for Margaret Knight:.Since the start of researching this family history, little was known about Margaret.The preparer recalls visiting Washington, D. C., as a child, to visitMary Kennedy, a cousin of Helen Crocken Calvert.

July 2007, a web site for "Knight", was constructed by Donal Knight in Ireland.One of his first responses was
from the husband of Margaret Knight's Granddaughter.Since that initial contact the following information has
been revealed.

Margaret Knight married John Kennedy, ( born in Ireland ) and lived in Baltimore, Maryland.
The 1900 Census found them living in Baltimore, at 775 Mulberry Street.Sons, John P, b. August 1897;
age 2 years and Thomas, b. July 1899, age 10 months.They had been married four years.John had arrived
from Ireland in 1887 and Maggie arrived in the USA, from Ireland in 1888.John's occupation was a saloonkeeper.

It has been assumed that Margaret (Maggie) and her sister Delia came to this country together, but census records
indicate they arrived in different years..

No more information has been found on John and Maggie after the 1900 Census. The search continues.


Notes for John Kennedy:
John Kennedy was born in Ireland in 1866.He married Margaret Knight, in Baltimore, Maryland.

They had three children, John, Thomas and Mary.

On the 1900 Census, John is listed as being born in Ireland. John arrived in this country, 1887. His
occupation wasa saloon keeper. His wife is listed as Maggie Kennedy on the 1900 Census.

The date and cause of death are unknown.

Notes for MARY KENNEDY:
After Mary Kennedy's parents died, she was adopted by her maternal Aunt, Delia Knight Crocken. It is believed she went to live with Delia and her family about 1907 or 1908.Mary is listed on the 1910 Census as being adopted daughter.About the age of 12, Mary went to St. Rose School in Washington, D. C.There, she received training in delicate sewing, tatting, embroidery and such.She made layettes, trousseaus and fine linens for the wealthy residents of Washington.

It is not known exactly when she met Armin.They apparently courted for a number of years before getting married.She lived in and around Washington, D. C.In her later years, she lived in Rockville, Maryland independently.
